Fashion show

Fashion shows are a wonderful way to showcase up and coming designs as well as raise money for MAG.

NIne students at the University of Manchester put on a fashion show in aid of MAG (photos below). They booked a local student pub for free, made the catwalk out of newspaper, borrowed the clothes from local charity shops, used friends and student volunteers as models and used a friendly DJ who donated his services for free.

They also held a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses, set up a cake stall with cakes baked by volunteers and donated from a bakers and had a face painting stall.

The night raised over £200 for MAG's clearance operations around the world, which is enough to clear 133 square metres of land.

Postgraduate students from the University of Manchester also held a fashion show, demonstrating current market trends on the catwalk, followed by a buffet:

Dress up

Dressing up is a great way to get involved with Fashion MAG and there is loads of potential to take it wherever you like. If you have always wanted to carry out your job dressed as a pirate or a bumble bee then this is the ideal opportunity. Lots of offices will often let employees hold dress down days, so why not do this is in aid of MAG.

Just a few ideas... Drag for MAG; Pirates; Robots; Mad Hatters; Zombies; Ballroom; Evening attire; Sportsmen; Celebrities; Politicians; Animals.

You can ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you to dress up or can consider holding a day where everyone can get involved.

Clothes swap

Clothes swaps are a great way to save lives and the environment. People bring in old items that are in good/salvageable condition and pay a minor fee to get in on the swapping action. The more people the better, so you have a wide range of shapes, sizes, and styles.

You can do this in your own home or at an outside venue, pubs and bars are a good option as people can take their time to sort through the clothes over a drink and you can easily set up the swap as an all-evening event.

Face-painting

Members of the 'University of Manchester MAG Society' held a Fashion MAG event and raised more than £50 for MAG's clearance operations.

They held a face-painting and cake-sale stall at their Students' Union during the end of exams party 'Pangea':
